Copper Mills and Miners – Official Lake District Guided Walk

Start point: Coniston Tourist Information Centre car park
Length: 4.2km (2.6miles) with 160m (520ft) of ascent
Time: 2.5hours (approx.)
An Easy+ grade walk beginning in Coniston village and moving into Coppermines Valley past Miners Bridge and onto visit the Lower and Upper Bonsor dressing floors to discover how copper was mined and processed here. The return route to Coniston includes part of the track along which the processed copper was taken on its way to the railhead from which is was taken onward by railway.
This walk is on quarry roads and obvious paths throughout. It involves some moderate ascents and descents on metalled roads and tracks with loose surfaces. Some sections can be muddy and/or slippery in poor weather.
