Coppermines Valley – Official Lake District Guided Walk for Families

Start point: Coniston Tourist Information Centre car park
Length: 6.5km (4 miles) with 300m (984ft) of ascent
Time: 4 hours (approx.)
A moderate grade walk around the Coppermines Valley to discover the history of its mining industry and hear tales of the men, women and children who worked in the copper mining industry.
The walk is on quarry roads and obvious paths throughout but does involve some ascents and descents on loose stones or grass which can be slippery in poor weather. You will be be made aware of the dangers posed by old mine workings and the safe code of conduct in such areas, particularly regarding children and pets.
Participants will need to dress appropriately for the terrain and weather and bring a packed lunch.
