SUMMARY:Coro Camino
DESCRIPTION:Coro Camino is a chamber choir made up of 12 Gloucestershire-based singers who also sing with a local choral society\, Philomusica. \nThe choir came together in 2019 to undertake a walking and singing tour along the route of the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain\, finishing in Santiago de Compostela. The concerts were well received and a second Camino tour was undertaken in 2023. \nThe choir also performs regularly in its home area\, in churches and other venues (including Gloucester Cathedral)\, helping the churches and charities with fund-raising initiatives. This has included participation in a Tewkesbury Abbey to Gloucester Cathedral pilgrimage\, with members of the choir also walking the route and with performances at the Abbey and the Cathedral as well as at a lunchtime stop along the route. \nThis year Coro Camino is looking forward to undertaking a three concert tour in Cumbria from 25th to 29th May (performing in Broughton-In-Furness\, Ulverston and Penrith)\, making use of connections which choir members have in these locations. They will also be looking to replicate the formula of their trips to northern Spain by including some walks in the Cumbrian Fells. \nThe choir is planning to perform a wide variety of music in a programme of about 75 minutes duration\, mainly classical but also with some numbers from musicals: music by Tallis\, Vivaldi\, Faure\, Elgar\, Lauridsen\, Rutter\, Chilcott and Andrew Lloyd Webber will be included – a choral pilgrimage across centuries and continents. \nThe concert at Ulverston Parish Church on Wednesday 27th May at 7.30pm is being held to support the fund raising for the North aisle roof and parapets of the church which will cost around £350\,000.

DESCRIPTION:Hi everyone\, I wanted to let you know all about my latest fundraiser – a family fun day in honour of my wife Ange and the incredible commitment that she showed over the years to raising money for local charities. Although she is no longer with us\, I know she would want me to carry on fundraising\, so “Angefest” it is. \nThe event will be held at Ulverston Sports Club. The main bar will be open for the event\, as well as outside areas. \nThe day will begin with a charity motorbike ride\, organised and led by two local bikers\, Ian Athersmith and Geoff Bennett. The meeting time is 8:30am\, aiming to set off for 9/9:30am\, depending on the final route. \nWe are expecting a great welcome back for the riders from the fantastic local band\, Deatbeats\, at the Sports Club around 1:00pm\, by which time\, the family fun day will be in full swing! The sight of the riders coming home will be a truly special moment\, for all ages (sensitive ears be warned\, it will be loud). \nWe have a fantastic line-up of live music that will take place over the entire day\, including music from: \n\nDeatbeats\nRoute 66\nReuben Tighe Music\nAde White\nPeter Buckley\nChris Garratt\nGavla\nMartin Smith\n\nThere will be local trade and craft stalls\, several caterers\, bouncy castles\, face painting\, and axe throwing throughout the day. Not forgetting games for both children and adults! We are delighted to announce that we are being supported by Ulverston Inshore Rescue\, Cumbria Fire Service\, St John Ambulance\, Lakeland Wildlife Oasis\, and many more. \nSo I’ve had long hair and a moustache for as long as I care to remember\, but I have dyed my hair and ‘tashe flamingo pink ready to be shaved off completely on the evening of the 27th\, all in aid of our charities\, so please sponsor/donate kindly. This will never happen again! \nThe event is raising money for the following charities: \n\nLookin Good & Feelin Great: A wonderful cancer support group who helped us tremendously during our journey. Their practical and emotional support for local families going through the process of cancer diagnosis\, treatment\, and aftercare is truly special.\nAndy’s Man Club: A group that have made a huge impact to so many lives in recent years. Their volunteers give countless hours to support men’s mental health\, and make a huge difference both locally and nationally.\n\nWe can’t do this alone. SUMMARY:Furness RDA Sponsored Ride
DESCRIPTION:In the UK\, the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) enriches the lives of young people through the unique bond between people and horses. Each year\, RDA supports over 39\,000 disabled children and adults. \nRDA’s innovative programmes improve mobility\, boost physical health and mental wellbeing\, build confidence\, and teach new skills. This is all made possible by over 13\,700 volunteers\, 1\,700 qualified coaches\, 2\,800 equines and more than 450 RDA groups. \nAt Furness RDA Group\, we have been delivering riding therapy\, achievement and enjoyment to local young people with a variety of disabilities\, for over 40 years. Activities are based at Seaview Riding School\, Walney. \nWe are an independent local charity\, supported by a team of brilliant volunteers and all our costs are met through fundraising activities and donations from kind individuals and organisations. \nFurness RDA’s major annual fundraising event takes place on 20th September; a scenic ride around the Holker Estate\, including parts of the estate that are normally closed to the public.
