SUMMARY:Embrace Healthy Ageing
DESCRIPTION:As we journey through life\, the way we age becomes increasingly important. But what does ageing well mean to you? Is it simply about reaching a certain age\, or is it about maintaining a zest for life\, staying physically active\, and fostering a sense of purpose and fulfilment? Perhaps it’s the ability to remain independent\, mobile\, and engaged in the activities and relationships that bring you joy. \nAs we reach our 40s and 50s\, these questions resonate deeply as we consider our long-term health and independence. While the passage of time is inevitable\, the way we approach and embrace this process can greatly impact our overall well-being and quality of life. In this article\, we invite you to reflect on your own perceptions and choices for healthy ageing. \nTake a moment to consider the choices you’re making today. Are they aligned with your vision of a vibrant and healthy future? Are you prioritising regular physical activity\, a balanced diet\, and nurturing your mental and emotional well-being? Small steps in the right direction can have a profound impact on your healthspan\, a term which refers to the number of years you can expect to live in good health. \nImagine a future where you can continue to pursue your passions\, set new goals\, explore new adventures\, and embrace each day with energy and enthusiasm. This is the essence of ageing well\, and it’s within your reach. \nAt Going for Old\, we understand the importance of empowering individuals to take an active role in their own well-being. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Healthy Ageing Workshop\, “Bones of a Healthy Future” where you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and gain valuable insights into nurturing a lifestyle that supports longevity and vitality. \nYou’ll discover practical strategies for maintaining bone health\, improving balance and flexibility\, and cultivating a positive mindset towards ageing. We’ll guide you through evidence-based approaches to ageing proactively. \nDon’t let age define your limitations; instead\, embrace it as an opportunity to redefine your potential. Join us at our free workshop at Croftlands Community Centre\, Central Drive\, Ulverston on Thursday 14th November from 1.30 to 3.30pm and embark on a journey towards a fulfilling and independent future. \nTo secure your place\, visit the link below and book now. \nRemember\, ageing is a privilege – let’s make the most of it together. \nAngela White MBChB MRCS\nGoing for Old Community Interest Company\nEmail: info@goingforold.org.uk

SUMMARY:Croquet Fun Taster Session
DESCRIPTION:In line with Community Amateur Sports objectives\, Crake Valley Croquet Club is offering membership opportunities for the 2025 season. \nLocated in the most picturesque of settings by Greenodd roundabout\, an introductory 2-hour “fun taster” session will be held on Wednesday 2nd April at 10am. An afternoon session will also run if there is sufficient interest. For just £10\, potential members are welcome to “try before you buy” and see the benefits of full club membership. The club is open all year round when weather permits. The session fee of £10 will be deducted from the first year’s membership of just £125 for those who decide to join. \nThe club provides all equipment needed for you to play croquet\, helping both mental and physical well-being. All you need to bring is a pair of flat soled shoes. With a fully functional kitchen and modern clubhouse\, several “social” events are held throughout the year. \nBooking for the taster session(s) is essential\, by email to secretary.crakevcc@gmail.com.
