SUMMARY:Lindsey Burrow
DESCRIPTION:TAKE CARE: An Evening with Lindsey Burrow. Sun Oct 18th The Coro. A Powerful\, Human Story of Love\, Resilience and the Courage to Keep Going. \nAn Evening with Lindsey Burrow — a deeply moving and profoundly human event that invites audiences to step into the world of a woman whose strength\, compassion and quiet resilience have inspired millions across the nation. \nLindsey Burrow is a mum of three\, a full‑time NHS physiotherapist\, and the devoted wife of the late Rob Burrow\, whose extraordinary courage in the face of Motor Neurone Disease captured the hearts of the country. While the world witnessed Rob’s public battle\, Lindsey lived the private one — balancing motherhood\, her demanding work\, and the exceptional care she gave to Rob throughout his illness. \nThis is not a story of perfection. It is a story of perseverance. Of love expressed through action. Of finding a way forward on the hardest days. Of holding a family together while the world watched a hero fade. And somehow\, through it all\, Lindsey continued to show up. \nTAKE CARE is not an event that tells people what to do. It is an honest reflection of what Lindsey had to do — just as millions of carers across the UK have had to do in their own lives. Her journey is a powerful reminder that even in the most challenging circumstances\, love\, friendship and care can be the strongest force of all. \nAudiences across the country have described the event as both heartbreaking and uplifting — a sad story\, yes\, but one filled with hope\, humanity and the quiet courage that defines the very best of us. \nWe invite you to join us in welcoming a remarkable woman whose story continues to inspire\, uplift and remind us of the enduring power of compassion. \nTAKE CARE: An Evening with Lindsey Burrow. A moment to listen. A moment to reflect. A moment to honour what it truly means to take care.

SUMMARY:Bay Short Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning short films return to the Roxy as Bay Short Film Festival comes to Ulverston \nThe Bay Short Film Festival returns this summer for its third consecutive year\, bringing a curated programme of award-winning international and Northern short films to the Roxy Cinema\, Ulverston. \nThe Ulverston screening is part of a three-day tour running 3–5 July 2026\, also visiting Carnforth and Barrow-in-Furness. It’s the summer touring edition of The Bay International Film Festival\, an established independent cinema event held in Morecambe each January — but this summer programme is dedicated purely to short films\, bringing fresh international and homegrown Northern content to local audiences\, much of it unseen in the area before. \nEach stop on the tour combines a short film screening with a live filmmaker Q&A\, audience voting for Best Film\, and community discussion. \nAll screenings operate on a pay-what-you-can basis\, with the festival committed to making independent cinema accessible regardless of financial circumstance. \nAdditionally\, there will be an evening networking event at 6pm on 4th July at The Sun\, Ulverston\, for filmmakers. Please register for the evening via the tickets link below.

SUMMARY:People's Emergency Briefing
DESCRIPTION:We’re all worried about the climate and nature breakdown. There are solutions\, but we need to know the facts before we can act. Join us to watch the People’s Emergency Briefing\, a film based on a briefing to MPs from ten experts\, and talk about what we can do. This time it will be shown in the Williams Room in the Coach House at Ford Park. \nThere will be refreshments and a chance to chat afterwards. We’ve got a panel of knowledgeable local people including Jackie Drake\, Chris Lindal\, and Harry Brunskill to answer questions. \nOrganised by Harry Brunskill: harrybrunskill@gmail.com \nSupported by Ford Park Community Group.

SUMMARY:Inspiring Young Women
DESCRIPTION:Cumbria-Westmorland Federation of WIs (CWFWI) is delighted to invite you to a lively and inspiring event bringing together WI members\, friends\, and some remarkable young twenty-first-century women from across our community. Join us to meet women from Young Farmers\, engineering\, small businesses\, Girl Guiding\, and the public health sector\, all keen to share their stories. \nOur speakers will talk openly about the challenges they’ve faced in building their careers\, and how belonging to organisations such as Girl Guiding has helped develop their confidence\, determination\, and resilience. You’ll hear from Gemma of ‘Blossom Rose’\, a florist based in Dalton-in-Furness\, Cecilia from Cumbria Girl Guides\, Georgia from Cumbria Young Farmers\, Hayley\, an engineer\, and Wendy Thompson\, a midwife – an inspiring and diverse panel not to be missed. \nWhile opportunities for young women today may appear broader than in decades past\, they also face unique pressures\, from the impact of social media to the rising cost of living and the struggle to find affordable housing. This event offers a chance to better understand their experiences\, celebrate their achievements\, and explore how the WI can support\, encourage\, and connect with the next generation. \nThe day begins with a relaxed brunch\, followed by the talks and plenty of time to chat\, meet new people\, and enjoy good company. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make new connections and see how the WI can be a welcoming friend and partner to these inspirational young women. \nPlease book by Friday 20th February via the website at cwfwi.org or simply call the office on 01539 720921. \nWe’d love you to come along and be part of this uplifting and thought-provoking day. We look forward to seeing you.
